We the people

During the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic in April 2020, there was a shortage of personal protective equipment (PPE) for healthcare workers and law enforcement personnel who were on the front lines of the pandemic response.

In response to this urgent need, a collaborative project was undertaken by architects Ar. Nuru Karim and Alvin Huang to 3D print and distribute masks to health workers and police officers. The project aimed to provide a locally sourced and cost-effective solution to the shortage of PPE.

As part of the project, I worked on refining the 3D model and printing process to ensure that the masks were effective and comfortable to wear. The 3D printed masks were distributed to hospitals and police stations in the local area, providing much-needed protection to those on the front lines of the pandemic response. The project was an example of how innovative and collaborative efforts can help address urgent needs during a crisis.
